時宗は、一遍上人を宗祖、真教上人を二祖として両祖の教えを基に、名号「南無阿弥陀仏」を拠りどころにする浄土門の一流です。 開祖、一遍上人は1239年愛媛県松山市の豪族、河野七郎通広の次男として誕生しました。幼名は松寿丸といいます。 10歳の時、母を亡くし、父の命を受けて仏門に入られます。13歳になると善入という僧に連れられ、九州で聖達上人、華台上人のもとで修行しました。12年間浄土門を学んび、父が亡くなり故郷に帰ります。 一遍上人も真教上人も教団に所属している僧尼を「時衆」と呼んでいます。この言葉は唐の善導大師の著書『観無量寿経疏』に記される「十四行偈」の一節「道俗時衆等 各発無上心(どうぞくじしゅうとう かくほつむじょうしん)」に由来します。 一日24時間を4時間ごとに分割した勤行(六時礼讃)や不断念仏などの法要を一定期間行う時には、時間で僧尼を交代させる必要があり、交代要員の人数と時間は定められていました。その法要の次第書を「結番(けちばん)」あるいは「番帳」といい、その要員が時衆です。 「時衆」は本来個々の僧尼を示す言葉ですが、他教団が使わなくなり、一遍上人の時衆だけが使用するようになって、教団の名称として通用するようになりました。 江戸時代に入ると「衆」が「宗」に代わり、「時宗」が宗派の名として確定されます。そのため、一遍上人を祖とする僧尼衆を表すときに、江戸時代より前の場合は「時衆」、江戸時代以降は「時宗」と呼びます。(遊行寺HP参照)
The Ji sect is one of the schools of the Pure Land sect, based on the teachings of both founders, with Ippen Shonin as the founder of the sect and Shinkyo Shonin as the second founder, and based on the name Namu Amidabutsu. The founder, Ippen Shonin, was born in 1239 as the second son of Kono Shichiro Michihiro, a local ruling family in Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture. His childhood name was Shojumaru. At the age of 10, he lost his mother and was ordained by his father to become a Buddhist priest. At the age of 13, he was taken to Kyushu by a monk named Zennyu, who trained with Sho Dao Sho'nin and Huatai Sho'nin. After 12 years of studying the Pure Land Gate, he returned to his hometown after his father died. Both Ippen Shonin and Shinkyo Shonin call the monks and nuns who belong to the religious community "Jishu." The word comes from a passage in "14 Gyoge" written by Shandao Daishi in Tang Dynasty China in his book "Kanmuryojukyosho" (Commentary on the Meditation Sutra): "Dozoku Jishu to Kaku Hotsu Mujoshin." When Buddhist services such as devotional exercises (6:00 Raisan), which consist of 24 hours a day divided into 4 hours, and the eternal nenbutsu were held for a certain period of time, the monks and nuns had to be rotated by the hour, and the number and hours of the replacements were fixed. The order book for the memorial service is called 'kechiban' or 'bancho' and its personnel are Jishu. Jishu originally referred to individual monks and nuns, but other religious communities stopped using it, and only Jishu, who was Ippen Shonin, began to use it, and it became accepted as the name of the religious community. In the Edo period, "shu" replaced "shu" and "Jishu" was established as the name of the sect. Therefore, before the Edo period, the term "Jishu" is used to describe the monks and nuns whose founder was Ippen Shonin, and after the Edo period, the term "Jishu" is used to describe the monks and nuns.
我執がしゅう(自分中心の考え)を“捨て”、家業につとめ励み、むつみあえば、“ただ今のひと時”は充たされ、極楽浄土への道が開かれます。」
念珠(数珠)本式念珠は、二つの念珠の輪を交差させた形状で二連数珠あるいは日課念珠と呼ばれるもの。
仏壇については、 阿弥陀如来への本願により浄土へ導かれるという教え、を表した金仏壇が主流です。最近ではインテリアにマッチした現代風のデザインを求められる方が増えています。舟形後背の阿弥陀様を御本尊とします。
